Renewing Your Mind

“And do not be conformed to this world,
but be transformed by the renewing of your mind,
so that you may prove what the will of
God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.”
Romans 12:2

“Our Bible is our resource to renew our minds.  I makes a practical difference in our lives.  Whether we need wisdom, direction, courage, strength, or encouragement, it’s all there. God’s Word, offers us more than we can imagine.

If you want to know God better, just ask Him to teach you.  He likes to answer that prayer!  Get into the Bible and start reading in the New Testament - it’s all about Jesus.  The same God who meets me will meet you because He loves you and wants to help to continually renew your mind.”

Living In Peace

“Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be
holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord.  See to it that
one falls short of the grace of God and that no bitter
roof grows up to cause trouble and defile many.”
Hebrews 12:14-15

“Like a small root that grows into a great tree, bitterness springs up in our hearts and over shadows even our deepest Christian relationships.  A “bitter root” comes when we allow disappointment grow into resentment, or when we nurse grudges over past hurts.  Bitterness brings with it jealousy, dissension, and immorality. When the Holy Spirit fills us, however, he can heal the hurt that causes bitterness.”

Angels Among Us

“For he will command his angels concerning
you to guard you in all your ways.”
Psalms 91:11

“One of the functions of angels is to watch over believers (Hebrews 1:14).  There are example of guardian angels in Scripture (1King 19:5: Daniel 6:22; Matthew 18:10; Luke 16:22, Acts 12:7), although there is no indication that one angel is assigned to each believer, Angels can also be God’s messengers (Matthew 2:13; Acts 27:23,24).

God of Hope

“May the God of Hope fill you with all
joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may
overflow with Hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
Romans 15:13

“Paul’s prayer for the Christians in Rome found in this verse is often used in churches today as a closing benediction.  It is powerful statement about what God can do in the heart and mind of every Christian.

Paul makes this request of the God of Hope, another beautiful name for God.  He is the only lasting source  we have for meaning in this life, and for a life beyond death.  Paul asks that the God of Hope fill these believers with all joy and peace “in believing” or as they trust in Him.  In other words, Paul is not asking God to simply dump joy and peace into their hearts without cause.  He is asking that as these believers trust in God, their faith will bring joy and peace to their hearts.  In other words help them to keep believing so that they can experience joy and peace.

Finally, Paul asks that they might have this joy and peace in believing so that they may abound with Hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.  Paul is asking God to give them more than just regular human hopefulness.  He is asking for supernatural, Holy Spirit-powered hopefulness.

God’s Compassion

“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed,
for His compassions never fail.  They are new
every morning; great is his faithfulness.”
Lamentations 3:22-23

“God willingly responds with help when we ask.  Perhaps there is some sin in your life that you thought God would not forgive.  God’s steadfast love and mercy are greater than any sin, and He promises forgiveness.  Trusting in God’s faithfulness day by day makes us confident in His great promises for the future.”
