The Peace of Christ

“Let the peace of Christ rule in our hearts.”
Colossians 3:15

“Paul tells us to let Christ’s peace to umpire or referee in our hearts.  Our hearts are the center of conflict because there our feelings and desires clash - our fears and hopes, distrust and trust, jealously and love.  How can we deal with these constant conflicts and live as God wants?  Paul explains that we must decide between conflicting elements by using the rule of peace - which choice will promote peace in our souls and in our churches?

“Whatever you have learned or received or
heard from me, or seen in me - put it into practice.
And the God of peace will be with you.”
Philippians 4:9

The Helping Spirit

“The Spirit helps us in our weakness.  We do not know what
we ought to pray for for, but the Spirit himself
intercedes for us through wordless groans.”
Romans 8:26

“And we know that in all things God works
for the good of those who love him.”
Romans 8:28

“As a believer, you are not left to your own resources to cope with problems.  Even when you don’t know the right words to pray, the Holy Spirit prays with and for you, and God answers.  With God helping you pray, you don’t need to be afraid to come before him.  Ask the Holy Spirit to intercede for you “in accordance with the will of God.”  Then when you bring your requests to God, trust that he will always do what is best.”

“God works in “all things” - not just isolated incidents - for our good.  This does not mean that all that happens to us is good.  Evil is prevalent in our fallen world, but God is able to turn every circumstance around for our long-range good.”
