Rest and Refresh

“He makes me lie down in green pastures, he
leads me beside still waters.
Psalm 23:12

“God’s provision of rest, nourishment, and peace, using the imagery of a shepherd guiding his flock.  “Green pastures” represent spiritual nourishment and renewal, and “still waters” symbolize a place of tranquility, not a stagnant pond but a calm, safe stream.  This verse illustrates that God actively guides and cares for believers, causing them to lie down when they might not know how to rest themselves. “

Great Joy

“And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night.  An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.  But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid.  I bring you good news that will bring great joy to the people.  Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.  This will be a sign to you:  You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”
Luke 2:8-12
“Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace to those on
whom his favor rests.”

God’s Love and Joy

“The Lord your God is with you, a mighty one
who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness;
he will quiet you by his love, he will exult
over you with loud singing,”
Zephaniah 3:17

“God’s presence, power, and love for his people, promising that the Lord, a mighty warrior in their midst, will save them, rejoice over them with gladness, quiet them with his love, and sing over them with joy, offering immense comfort and assurance against fear.

The Lord your God is with you.  The scripture speaks of God’s personal delight in His people, promising restoration and a powerful, loving presence even during times of trouble.”

What Nature Reveals To Us

 “The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.”
Psalms 19:1

“When you look at nature, it’s easy to see the handiwork of God.  Every flower, each blade of grass, every tree is a testimony to His greatness.  Even the animals are a testimony to His power and majesty.  When you take time to really look at nature, it’s easy to see how great God is!!!

Decision Making With God’s Help

“Your word is a lamp to my feet
and a light to my path.”
Psalm 119:105

“Decision making involves seeking His will by reading scripture, praying for guidance and peace, seeking wise counsel from trusted believers, considering circumstances with common sense, and trusting God to guide your path toward His ultimate good and glory.  The goal is to make choices that align with God’s known will and His heart, leading to a life that honors Him.”

Living by the Fruit of the Spirit

“But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy,
peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
gentleness and self control.”
Galatians 5:22

“If you desire to have these qualities, then you know that the Holy Spirit is leading you.  At the same time,
be careful not to confuse your subjective feelings with the Spirit’s leading.  Being led by the Spirit involves the desire to hear, the readiness to obey God’s word, and the sensitivity to discern between your feelings and his promptings.  Live each day controlled and guided by the Spirit.  Then the words of Christ will be in your mind, and the love of Christ will be behind your actions, and the power of Christ will help you.”

God’s Got Your Back

God Says It Will Be Okay

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not
be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you.”
Isaiah 41:19

“The phrase “God says it will be okay” reflects core belief in many religions that, despite current hardships, God has a good plan, promises to be present, and ultimately bring good outcomes.  Biblical passages such Romans 8:28 and Isaiah 41:10 are often cited, assuring that God works for the good of those who love Him and promises not to leave them.  This belief provides comfort and hope, suggesting that current struggles are temporary and part of a larger plan that will lead to ultimate peace and joy!

The Holy Spirit

“The Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness.”
Romans 8:26

“As a believer, you are not left to your own resources to cope with problems.  Even when you don’t know what to pray, the Holy Spirit prays with and for you, and God answers.  With God helping you pray, you don’t need to be afraid to come before him.  Ask the Holy Spirit to intercede for you “accordance with the will of God.”  Then, when you bring your requests to God, trust that he will always do what is best.”

Living Balanced

 “Come to me by yourselves
to a quiet place and get some rest.”
Mark 6:31

“You are a three-part being - spiritual, physical, and emotional.  You have to take care of each one.  You can pray for twenty-four hours a day, but you’re not going to feel well physically.  You can go to the gym and work out five hours a day, seven days a week, but you’re not taking time for your spiritual and emotional side, you’re not going to be your best.  You can’t stay up all night and not get proper sleep and expect to have the passion you need.  You can’t drink twenty cups of coffee a day, eat junk food, and expect to feel well.  Some people are discouraged, don’t have any energy and praying for miracle.  If Jesus showed up, He would say,”Get away and quiet yourself.  Get some sleep.  Start eating better. Take care of yourself.”

Living balanced is the key.  You have to take care of all three parts.  You will be your most productive, your most effective,, when you’re balanced physically, spiritually and emotionally.  If you neglect one area, it will lesson what you could accomplish.”

Rejoicing Always

“Rejoice always, pray continuously, give
thanks in all circumstances; for
this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

“Our joy, prayers, and thankfulness should not fluctuate with our circumstances or feelings.  Obeying these three commands - be joyful, pray continually, and give thanks often goes against our inclinations or feelings.  When we make a conscious decision to do what God says, however, we will begin to see people in a new perspective.  When we do God’s will, we will find it easier to be joyful and thankful.”

God’s Strength

 “Look to the Lord and his strength;
seek his presence always.”
1 Chronicle 16:11

“There are many Bible verses about strength when you feel tired, weak, and overwhelmed by storms of life.  Throughout the Bible, we are reminded of our strength from relying on God, trusting his will, and having faith in His love for us.  No matter what difficulties we face in life, we can draw on strength of God to get through them. “

never ceases.”
Lamentations 3:22-23

Keep Calm

“Be careful, keep calm and don’t be afraid,
Do not lose heart.”
Isaiah 7:4

God wants you to trust Him in every situation. When you put all of your trust in God, you will be calm and not afraid. There is nothing to fear when God is on your side.

Jesus paid the price for your life and said He would never leave you. Since He did that, you have a reason to be calm in spite of all the threats going on around you in your life. All those threats are just smoldering firewood that God can control and put out, in His time and way.

Trust God today and be calm.

I pray today that you will know God is in control; that you will know the peace of God in your life; that you will not fear any threats in your life; and that God will calm your heart and mind.

but the Lord establishes their steps.”

May His Light Shine Upon You

“The Lord bless you and keep you;
the Lord make his face shine on you
and be gracious to you;
the Lord turn his face toward you
and give you peace.”
Numbers 6:24-25

“Shine upon signifies God’s favor, blessing, and presence.  It’s a metaphor for God’s illuminating one’s path and granting peace and well-being.

The prayer reflects a desire for God’s guidance and protection, particularly in times uncertainty and difficulty.

The idea of God’s light shining on His people connects to the belief in God’s ultimate revelation in Jesus Christ, who is described as the “light of the world.”

The phrase also serves as a reminder to live in a way that reflects God’s light, by demonstrating compassion, kindness, and love towards others.”

Praying With Confidance

“This is the confidence we have in approaching God:
that if we ask anything according to
his will, he hears us.”
1John 5:14

“The emphasis here is on God’s will, not our will.  When we communicate with God, we don’t demand what we want; rather we discuss with Him what he wants for us.  If we align our prayers to His will, He will listen and we can be certain that if He listens, He will give us a definite answer.  Start praying with confidence.”

Give God Your Worries

1 Peter 5:7
“Give all your worries to God, for he cares about you.”

God desires to take care of whatever may be concerning you today. He invites you to give your worries and cares to Him simply because He loves you!
How do you give Him your cares? First of all, understand that cares show up in your mind. When negative, self-defeating thoughts of worry come, you have to recognize them as cares and replace them with the Word of God. For example, if you are concerned about a need today, say out loud, “My God shall supply all my needs according to His riches in glory.” If you have fear about something, say out loud, “God has not given me a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind.” If you have sickness in your body, declare, “By His stripes I am healed.” As you meditate on the truth and focus your heart and mind on the Father, those cares and concerns will disappear.
Then, thank Him for giving you peace and joy. Thank Him for working in your life. As you keep an attitude of faith and expectancy, give Him your worries and cares and get ready for the blessing He has for your future!
A Prayer for Today
"Father in heaven, I come to You today casting my cares on You. I choose to believe Your Word and trust that You are working behind the scenes on my behalf. I give You all the praise and glory in Jesus’ name. Amen."

God’s Got This

You believe in God, believe also in me.”

During times of stress, worry or uncertainty, just remember you don’t have to shoulder the burden yourself, ask God!  “God’s got this”, He is the source of comfort and encouragement, offering hope even when things seem bleak, God will ultimately lead the way.

A Cheerful Heart

“A cheerful heart is good medicine…”
Proverbs 17:22

“Don’t take yourself so seriously.  Lighten up and laugh with me. You have me on your side, so what are you worried about?  I can equip you to do absolutely anything, as long as it is My will.  The more difficult your day, the more I yearn to help you.  Anxiety wraps you up in yourself, trapping you in your own thoughts.  When you look to Me and whisper My Name, you break free and receive My help.  Focus on Me, and you will find Peace in My Presence.”

Living Water

“Let anyone who is thirsty, come to me and drink.”
John 7:37

The term “living water” appears several times in the Bible, functioning as a powerful symbol of spiritual nourishment and renewal. This concept embodies a profound aspect of Christian faith, offering a lens through which to comprehend our relationship with God and Jesus Christ. Throughout this post, we will explore the significance of the “living water” scripture.

WHAT IS LIVING WATER?

Living water is a metaphor used in the Bible to depict the spiritual sustenance and salvation that Jesus Christ offers. The phrase draws upon the life-giving properties of water, symbolizing the spiritual refreshment that comes from accepting Jesus Christ and his teachings. In essence, Jesus is the living water, providing the necessary spiritual nourishment for our souls to thrive.

This metaphor comes to life in John 7:38 where Jesus declares: “Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them”. This verse paints a vivid picture of believers, filled with the Holy Spirit, becoming like streams of living water themselves, sharing the love and grace of Jesus with the world.

Negative Seeds

“Above everything else, guard your mind.
Everything you do comes from it.”
Proverbs 4:23

We all have voices that are trying to keep us from our destiny. Sometimes it’s people telling us what we can’t become. “You aren’t qualified.” It may be experts telling us, “You’re never going to get well.” You hear about the economy, inflation, viruses, division. This can bring fear and worry. “What’s going to happen?” Words are like seeds. If you dwell on them long enough, they’ll take root and become a reality. The good news is that you get to choose what gets planted in your soil.

Don’t let just any seed get in there. If it is discouraging, brings fear, or pushes you down, don’t give it the time of day. Don’t give the doubt from other people or your own negative thoughts permission to become a reality. You have to tune out all the negative, limiting words—“can’t do it,” “not able,” “never going to happen.” You don’t have to receive it. If you don’t dwell on it, those words will die stillborn and have no effect on you. Keep your mind filled with positive, hopeful, faith-filled thoughts.

Just Smile

“In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust
in his holy name.”
Psalm 33:21

“Rejoicing in the Lord and His goodness naturally leads to smiling, reflecting the inner peace and joy that come free from trusting in Him.”     ~Biblerespository.com

Smile - Song by Eric Clapton

Smile, though your heart is aching.

Smile, even though it's breaking.

Though there are clouds in the sky, You'll get by

If you smile through your fears and sorrows.

Smile and maybe tomorrow.

You'll see the sun come shining through.

If you just light up your face with gladness, Hide every trace of sadness.

Although a tear may be ever, ever so near.

That's the time you must keep on trying.

Smile, what's the use of crying?

You'll find life is still worthwhile

If you'll just smile, come on and smile.

10,000 Reasons

“Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being,
praise his holy name … and forget
not all his benefits.”
Palms 103:1-2

“David’s praise focused on the good things God was doing for him.  It is easy to complain about life, but David’s list gives us plenty for which to praise God - he forgives our sins, heals our diseases, redeems us from death, crowns us with love and compassion, satisfies our desires, and gives us righteousness and justice.  We receive all these without deserving any of them.  No matter how difficult your life’s journey, you can always count your blessings - past, present and future.”

Everyday Miracles

“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably
more than all we ask or imagine.
Exodus 3:20

Everyday miracles

If you will take a moment to pause in your busy day, you will see everyday miracles all around you. You see it in the vibrant colors of nature, and in the gentle breeze blowing your hair even though you can’t see it.  There are everyday miracles that hold your feet to the ground and provide oxygen for your lungs. The intricate ordering of clouds in the sky or the brilliant palette of a sunrise reflect the majesty of our God and put everyday miracles front and center before us.

Ask for miracles, look for miracles, and believe in miracles when they occur. God is always at work in your life and the lives of others. Without miracles, our world would cease to exist. When you can’t explain the extraordinary, know it was a miracle from God. He has promised to provide for our needs. Sometimes He’ll work a miracle to accomplish His promise. You just need to learn to see it.

God’s Plans for Us in the New Year

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the
Lord,” plans to prosper you and not to
harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Jeremiah 29:11

“We’re all encouraged by a leader who stirs us to move ahead, someone who believes we can do the task he has given and who will be with us all the way.  He knows the future, and his plans for us are good and full of hope.  As long as God, who knows the future, provides our agenda and goes with us as we fulfill his mission, we can have boundless hope.  This does not mean that we will be spared pain, suffering or hardships, but that God will see us through to a glorious conclusion.”
