Peace In Our Hearts

“ Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.
I do not give to you as the world gives.  Do not let your hearts
be troubled and do not be afraid.”
John 14:27

“The end result of the Holy Spirit’s work in our lives is deep and lasting peace.  Unlike worldly peace, which is usually defined as the absence of conflict, this peace is confident assurance in any circumstance.  With Christ’s peace, we have no need to fear the present or the future.  Sin, fear, uncertainty, doubt, and numerous other forces that are at war within us.  The peace of God moves into our hearts and lives to restrain these hostile forces and offers comfort in place of conflict.  Jesus says he will give us that peace if we are willing to accept it from him.  If your life is full of stress, allow the Holy Spirit to fill you with Christ’s peace.”

Just Ask God

“Ask and it will be given to you, seek and you will find,
knock and the door will be opened to you.”
Matthew 7:7

“Therefore, I tell you, do not worry about your life...”
Matthew 6:26

Seven Reasons Not To Worry

Matthew 6:25 - The same God who created life in you can be trusted without the details of your life.
6:26 - Worrying about your future hampers your efforts for today.
6:27 -  Worrying is more harmful than helpful.
6:28-30 -  God does not ignore those who depend on him.
6:31-32 -  Worrying shows lack of faith in and understanding of God.
6:33 -  Worrying keeps us from real challenges God wants us to pursue.
6:34 -  Living one day at a time keeps us from being consumed with worry.

Trusting In God

“The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me.”  Psalm 28:7

Every day challenges can test our trust in God. Fear and anxiety can rob us from faith. The future may seem uncertain right now, and worry keeps occupying too much room in your heart, in your mind, but remember this: God is already in all of our tomorrows. The Bible assures us that He knows our way, and He has a plan. And we can trust God's way is the best way for us.

God's timing is perfect. We may never know why certian things happen during our lives on earth, but we can trust that God's plan is for our good and that He goes before us. Trusting in God doesn't mean we put on a smile and fake the appearance of faith - sometimes trusting God is crying out to Him in our pain. Our true hope is knowing that we can rejoice in the pain.

God never asks us to figure it all out on our own. He just asks us to trust Him, to recognize His leadership and Sovereignty in our lives. And His promises in Scripture tell us that he makes our pathways straight. There is power when you trust God. Our security and peace can rest on God alone - not our own circumstances, other people, or our own ability. We can believe His Word when he says that he will not leave us nor forsake us. May you gain trust in the One who created you and watches over us and may you experience the power of hope!

Happy Valentine’s Day 🥰

“Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God.
Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.”
1 John 4:7

“Everyone believes that love is important, but love is usually thought of as a feeling.  In reality, love is a choice and an action as 1Corinthians 13:4-7 shows.  God is the source of our love.  He loved us enough to sacrifice his Son for us.  Jesus is our example of what it means to love; everything he did in life and death was supremely loving.  The Holy Spirit gives us the power to love; he lives in our hearts and makes us more and more like Christ.  God’s love always involves a choice and an action, and our love should be like his.”

Knowing God Better

“I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father,
may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.
I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you
may know the hope to which you were called.”
Ephesians 1:17-18

“Paul prayed for the believers to know God better.  If you want to get to know someone you have to spend time with that person.  The same holds true with God.  Reading the Bible, great works of theology, and devotional material is wonderful, but there is no substitute for knowing God personally.  The difference is in spending time with him.  Study Jesus’ life in the Gospels to see what he was like on earth two thousand years ago, and get to know him in prayer now.  Personal knowledge of Christ will change your life.”

God’s Guidance

“Show me your ways, Lord, teach me your paths.  Guide me in your
truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior,
and my hope is in you all day long.”
Psalm 25:4-5

“David expressed his desire for guidance.  How do we receive God’s guidance?  The first step is to want to be guided and to realize that God’s primary guidance system is in His Word, the Bible.  Psalm 119 tells of the endless knowledge found in God’s Word.  By reading the Bible and constantly learning from it, we will gain the wisdom to perceive God’s direction for our lives.”

Being Free

“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit
of the Lord is, there is freedom.”
2 Corinthians 3:17

“When we trust God to save us, he removes our heavy burden of trying to please him and our guilt for failing to do so.  By trusting Christ we are loved, accepted, forgiven, and freed to live for him.”

“Jesus can free you from this slavery that keeps you from becoming the person God created you to be.”

Encouragement

“May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had.” Romans 15:5

Encouragement is something we all need to keep us motivated, loved, and feeling confident in ourselves and what we do. It’s something that is important for our mental and overall health and it truly can give us just the same amount of joy to give it to others as it is to receive it. We all know what it can feel like to pursue something—whether it’s starting out a new job, trying out a new creative hobby, or trying to make small changes in your life—and not get any feedback or encouragement. You want to quit and it can feel hard to stick with your goals. Plus, it can lead to discouragement. Because God created us and knows this about our personalities, he has provided countless verses in the Bible to not only encourage us but also to teach us the importance of lifting up those around us. Imagine how your community could change for the better with a little more encouragement between neighbors instead of community message boards filled with complaints. Or how strong your team at work could become if each person talked up their teammates' work instead of their own accomplishments in order to get ahead. What a world that could be!

Being Kind

“Be kind and compassionate to one another,
forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”
Ephesians 4:32

Life tests us constantly. There are conflicts at work, struggles with family and friends, irritating strangers we encounter, and so on. Sometimes it is really hard to be nice and do good to those around us. These bible verses about kindness remind us of why we must be forgiving and show love to people. In short: It's what God did and does for us. The least we could do is return the favor to others.

God even wants us to be kind to our enemies, which is one of the hardest things to do. But, in the end, we will be rewarded if we aim to live a good life, spreading joy and thoughtfulness wherever we go. Although, it's important that we don't let the reward be the only reason that we're doing good. Kindness for kindness sake is the goal here.
