God Works For Our Good

“And we know that in all things God
works for the good...”
Romans 8:28

God works in “all things” - not just isolated incidents - for our good.  Evil is prevalent in our fallen world, but God is able to turn every circumstance around for our long-range good.

Get a new perspective, a new mind-set on life.  Trust in God, look for security in heaven, not on earth; learn to accept, not resent pain and persecution because God is with you.”

God Cares

“Cast all your anxiety on him,
 because he cares for you.”
1 Peter  5:7

Like potatoes and cucumbers, worry and faith cannot coexist in the same heart. When worry is planted in the heart, it chokes out faith.

In Matthew 6:25-34, Jesus tells us not to worry about what to eat or what to drink. He tells us not to be anxious about our health or about our clothing. God knows we need these things. If we seek God first, everything we need will follow.

Jesus wants to uproot worry from the garden of your heart. For this to be possible, He must pull out the weeds of worry, doubt, fear, and anxiety so faith can bloom. The same way a plant needs sunlight, water, and air to grow, we need to trust the Gardener of our faith with all the worries that come our way, knowing that He will provide the Sun of Righteousness, the Word of God, and the friendship of the Holy Spirit to nurture our growth.

Today, if you feel overwhelmed, turn your worries over to Jesus because He cares and He specializes in spiritual growth.

Our Heart

“Above all else, guard your heart,
for everything you do flows from it.”
Proverbs 4:23

“Our heart - our feelings of love and desire - dictates to a great extent how we live because we always find time to do what we enjoy.  Solomon tells us to guard our heart above all else, making sure we concentrate on those desires that will keep us on the right path.  Make sure your affections push you in the right direction.”

Be Still

“Be still, and know that I am God;”
Psalm 46:10

“The tone of this verse can be read: stop striving, stop fighting, and stop trying to do things on your own. Stop stressing about the battle ahead and trust me. Wake up! I am the Lord. I am your refuge and your strength. You have nothing to fear or worry about when I am with you. I will fight your battles and deal with your enemies. So get out of my way. Step back, open your eyes, and acknowledge who I am and what I can do. Let me be God. Don’t try and do my job for me. Be patient, be still, and let me go to work.”

“In the midst of conflict and life turmoil, sometimes we just need to open our eyes, step back, stop what we’re doing, and acknowledge who God is and what He can do. Doing so provides comfort in the chaos and peace in the midst of struggle.”

Seeking God

“I keep my eyes on the Lord.  With him at my
right hand, I will not be shaken.”
Psalm 16:8

“You will seek me and find me when you
seek me with all your heart.”
Jeremiah 29:13

“According to God’s wise plan, his people were to have hope and a future; consequently they could call upon him in confidence.  We should not despair because we have God’s presence, the privilege of prayer and God’s grace.  God can be sought and found when we seek him wholeheartedly.  Neither strange lands, sorrows, frustration, nor physical problems can break that communion.”

“Cling to my hand and go forward with confidence.  While you and I walk together along the path of Life, your trust in Me will fill your heart with Joy and your mind with Peace.”

The Spirit’s Fruit

“... let us keep in step with the Spirit.”
Galatians 5:25

“Live each day controlled and guided by the Holy Spirit.  Then the words of Christ will be in your mind, the love of Christ will be behind your actions, and the power of Christ will help you control your selfish desires.

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self control...”           Galatians 5:22-23

“The fruit of the Spirit is spontaneous work of the Holy Spirit in us.  The Spirit produces these character traits that are found in the nature of Christ.

“The Holy Spirit is the source of your new life, so keep in step with his leading.  Don’t let anything or anyone else determine your values and standards in any area of your life.”
